February 24th - March 2nd (Week 23 of 33)

Animation needs to be worked on before time becomes an issue, there should only be around 2 models to animate, those models being the Shark and Britney, these models are now textured so animation is now something I should turn my attention to.

Worked quickly to the on the "Game Over" screen, will hook it up shortly (it works now)
Been very-very-very lax, here's a new enemy type though... The GR8P (GeorgeRick-8 Pod) nick named The Grape by NC-Defence troops.
As another addition I made these obstacles for the player, I though of them as being a Czech Hedgehog but I found the design a little frustrating to model, so these are more styled after a Roman valli (Sudes) and make a tad more sense for use against an organic...

Weekly Drawing

Working on an ad that I'll use in-game on a bill board for "Al's Bakery", might see IRL use but tiz unlikely, will work on them to a more finalised form in the following week.
Rough Sketch 1
Rough Sketch 2
Monster thing that I'm working on, I quite like playing Neo-Scavenger so I thought it might be neat to do a few drawings of enemy designs that I'll post on a suggestions page or something.

A pun I made a while ago worked up a little better, still in a cartoony theme, but it works well I think.

February 17th - 23rd (Week 22 of 33)

Texturing

The teeth, that were previously individually modelled, have been replaced with a few plains. This was not only to lower the poly count, but also to keep the cartoony drawn style I'm trying to achieve. There were some issues however, the plain was the wrong way round and thus didn't display correctly, it had to be adjusted by hand in order to display properly.

State of the Game

The game as a whole needs much more work, the building assets will do for now, but the enemies need to be textured and Britney animated. The HUD needs some bespoke texturing, in a similar manor to the Menu.
The Jet-Pack Shark is basically finished, it just needs some particle effects flowing from the rocket nozzle.

I adjusted the menu slightly, the "select" is a little confusing though, so I might have to replace it later.

February 10th - 16th (Week 21 of 33)

Achieve Basic Functionality

I may have signed up for wasting a bit of time later this and next week (cooking batches of chilli-con-carne) so there is a huge emphasis on getting a whole lot done Monday-Friday.
Alastair (Programming Tutor) is apparently going to be in today (Wednesday) so I'm looking to make some C# problems for him to solve.
Menu Design 1
Despite the name this is the 2nd iteration of the menu, initally I started with the whole Live-News set-up just to provide loose context as to what's going on, without spoiling it for 1st time players. The disconnect was a tad too much however and I needed to tie it all together, thus you can see the N.C.Britney logo that I designed for an in-game bill-board.
However the problem was that it looked even less like a News-Feed so I made some additional changes...
Menu Design 2
The News-Feed bar is currently not functional, this is something I'll address much later down the line (or remove all together). I'm not totally happy with the look, but I'll leave it for now and move on to the option and in-game character functionality.

Sunday

The chili-con-carne went well, thanks for asking. The work did not go quite so well, no worries I'll finish it all today... watch this space... yeh. Got to cook a batch of curry for the Thursday though and I'm sort'of watching Attack on Titan.
...-later-...
Okay the code is basically finished and until the assets are finalised there's no point working on it any further.

Weekly Drawn Image: Dwarves (OVERDUE)

I'm sort of a fan of Dwarf Fortress, a real-time text-based management game, so I thought it'd be cool to do a few renditions.

February 3rd - 9th (Week 20 of 33)

Re-formatting + Re-coding + Re-evaluation

Format Change

The dissertation is finished, and hopefully will not savage my chances of a decent grade, or worse cause a failure of the entire unit, and thus the course. Regardless, till April 20th-odd, there is little point speculating.
The game, as I left it, was partway in the process of being reiterated and improved to a degree that will hopefully become apparent soon. I plan to add to this throughout the duration/remainder of this week and next.
Having had weighed the criticisms received for my pitch submission, it seems that I must push to better document the process I make, although the blog was never evaluated due to an error on my part. Through discussion with the course leader (Steve Brown) it seems that weekly postings will significantly boost my grade, alongside this a push towards the aesthetic elements is also desired.
I will look to post a drawn image per week, to go alongside my contribution to my project Neo-Cretaceous Britney. For example...

Weekly Drawn Image: Santa MKII (2014-02-09)

Feedback from Steve is that it might be a little too late to be refining the sketching out of entire environments, I concur and will stick to character design. The perspective elements have been a weakness of mine for a while, but now is not the time to resolve them, the majority of my pieces will be flat.
Thus I shall segregate Santa from his environment and followers.

Progress Report on Neo-Cretaceous Britney

Roughly speaking I have 13 weeks left before I must conclude and submit my work, I have scheduled accordingly...

1st 4 weeks scheduled will reschedule within final week
